Pub trail .....

This is a selection of the 'Pubs' in North Berwick, each offering a different choice of beers and bar snacks. Ask what 'special ale' is on tap, before making your decision. If you are new to Scottish beer, start with the locally brewed Belhaven 'Best'.

County Hotel
17, High Street, North Berwick

County Hotel

The County Hotel was established in 1816, when it was a Post House with the stable courtyard to the rear. Although the premises have been refurbished, the public bar retains that nineteenth century atmosphere, including the low ceiling, open fire and panelled walls. During the summer months there is live entertainment. The beer comes from the Scottish and Newcastle range, with a wide choice of cask ales including Beamish - Red, Caledonian - Deuchar's IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Theakston's BB.

Auld Hoose
Forth Street, North Berwick

Auldhoose

The original Auld Hoose was burnt down, and the present building, erected in 1896, is the oldest public bar in town. The Victorian interior, with decorative beam and cornice, give the atmosphere of a bygone age, along with a log fire in the winter. On the walls are photographs of the lifeboat crews who have frequented this hostelry for over a century. On offer is a superb choice of award winning ales from the Caledonian Brewery in Edinburgh, and a number of guest beers including, "Flowers Original" and "Raeburns".

Wine Bar & Brasserie No.12 Quality Street, North Berwick

Quarterdeck
1-5, Westgate, North Berwick

Quaterdeck

At the Quarterdeck you will always receive a warm welcome. This was the Pub where Sam Torrance entertained John Daly and Fred Couples during the '92 Open. The Pool table and gaming machines add to a lively atmosphere. The most popular beer amongst the regulars is the Belhaven 80/-, also on offer is a huge range of European bottled Lagers. Round off your visit with a glass of Stella Artois on draught, the original strong lager from Belgium.

Ship Inn
7-9, Quality Street, North Berwick

Ship Inn

The refurbished Ship Inn is a traditional bar serving an excellent range of Belhaven cask ales. The local Belhaven Brewery has in one form or another been brewing beer using the water from the wells of the Benedictine priory near Dunbar since the early 15th century. The Ship Inn also has a bistro serving a variety of snacks, main meals, and cappuccino. You must not leave without tasting the Belhaven "Best" or a pint of "Caffrey " a fine real ale from Ireland.
