  East Lothian

The County of East Lothian has two natural boundaries, the Firth of Forth to the north and the Lammermuir Hills to the south. The moderate climate and some of the most fertile land in Scotland makes the County ideal for arable farming. With Edinburgh only 10 miles to the west, East Lothian is a dormitory for commuters to the capital.

The scenic beauty of the landscape, with 43 miles of coastline and the heather clad uplands provide an ideal environment for all recreational pursuits. East Lothian covers 270 square miles and has a population of 89,000.
