North Berwick and Leith

This photo was part of a series produced for The American Golf magazine published in June 1918. The names of the two figures on the left are unknown.

On the left, John M Inglis of the 'Perforated Grip' fame, pro and club maker at Montgomery C.C. In the middle Gilbert Nichols from Dover, England who served his apprenticeship as a club maker under Ramsay Hunter at Deal before emigrating. Hunter was related to Ramsay Hunter from North Berwick, winner of the Esmond Trophy in 1928. Fred McLeod on the right, played in a series of matches with Inglis and Nichols in Montgomery (AL) during March 1909.
